About John Brown
John Brown was born on November 24, 1943 in Jonesboro,
Arkansas.  He is the son of Odie Brown and Nellie Roan.  All of his
grandmothers and grandfathers were of Cherokee blood.  John has
twin children, with 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 2
great great-grandchildren.

John enjoys wildlife, horseback riding, and “fooling with animals”.  
He is a jovial soul and loves a good joke.  John is also an amateur
genealogist, recently tracing the European side of his family back to
the 1300s.  Known to all as an honest and hard worker he also
enjoys Native American music.

John joined the army in August of 1968 and fought in the Vietnam
War.  Promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant he spent both 1969
and 1970 in Vietnam.  He was a specialist working on weapons
systems and weapons systems repair with weapons control.  He is a
lifetime member of The Disabled American Veterans.  With active
and reserve service John gave 26 years of his life to protecting the
country.  

He worked on a ranch in California and as a Tire technician after
the service. He got involved with The Lost Cherokee in 2001, and
became a council member in 2004.  John works everyday in the
office overseeing its operations.  John and his wife Mary have
devoted their existence to the group and are dedicated to the Lost
Cherokee.  He works diligently on bringing food to the hungry
members and has delivered personally hundreds of items to the
needy.  He holds meetings for The Lost Cherokee most pointedly at
Marshall, AR.

John is a cancer survivor and has been in remission for 23 years.
